We first learned about the Entlebucher Mountain Dog in 2006 while living and working overseas in Germany. After several years of consideration, we decided it was time to add a dog to our lives. It could not be just any dog, it had to be smart, brave, energetic, loyal, medium build, with short hair, and a happy temperament.
After researching all the breeds, we came across the Entlebucher or "Entle". We had never heard of this breed and, at the time, could not even pronounce its name. We were so surprised that such a breed existed.
After many conversations in 2008 with a breeder in Austria, we welcomed Bee von dem Waldtzeil, aka Bella, into our lives, and she more than met our very high expectations. We knew right away that she was the perfect fit for our family. Committing to an Entle was the toughest and most rewarding decision we ever made. We have had at least one in our home and heart ever since.
At Entles Edge Entlebuchers, we have a deep love and passion for Entlebuchers. This rare breed is not known by many, but once you come into contact with one, they win you over with their cuteness and charm.
Our passion is about making deliberate, informed choices that prioritize the well-being of the dogs above all else. It's about understanding that every puppy is a precious gift, a responsibility, and a testament to the enduring bond between humans and animals. It's about contributing to the legacy of a breed, ensuring that its unique qualities are not just preserved but celebrated and cherished for generations to come.
We are dedicated to producing healthy, quality puppies that meet breed standards. We are committed to the preservation of this special and rare breed, and we follow the breeders' code of ethics established by our national club. Our purpose isn't simply about producing puppies; it's about preserving and enhancing the very essence of this breed.
Our responsibility extends beyond the whelping box. We are a resource, a guide, and a lifelong advocate for every dog we bring into this world. We will answer questions, offer support, and celebrate every milestone. We will be there for you in times of joy and in times of sorrow, a constant presence in the lives of our extended dog family.
Our AKC Champion princess is always ready to strike a pretty pose. She is smart, brave, and loyal. Always following us around, on our left side, and of course, looking up with a smile, ready to please. She is enjoying learning Rally and Scent Work this year.
Echo proudly stands with the judge after winning the Entlebucher Mountain Dog Best of Breed at the 2025 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! We are so proud of her and have enjoyed celebrating her big win! Echo started showing in Conformation in November 2023 and achieved her Champion Title in August 2024 and scored enough points to go to Westminster in February 2025.
After obtaining her Champion Title in August 2024, we registered Echo for the 2024 National Dog Show at the Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Echo won Best of Breed at that show and then proudly went on to take the Herding Group Fourth Place award!! Seen here in the photo with the Judge, Echo shows how she truly loves the show ring!! She just loves it!!
Our bundle of energy, Journey, is a companion dog not used for breeding. She has such drive and joy when performing. There is no obstacle she is not willing to conquer with a little encouragement and a treat or two. She too, is super smart and knows well over 50 words for all her toys, treats, and commands. We even think she can spell. Journey loves agility competitions and running super fast.
